Procrastination

PROCRASTINATION: NOUN

The action of delaying or postponing something. Dithering, delaying tactics, dilatoriness (slowness as a consequence of not getting around to it). Stalling, temporizing (avoid making a decision or committing oneself in order to gain time). hesitation, vacillation (the inability to decide between different opinions or actions; indecision). Humming and hawing, dallying and shilly-shallying. I am surprised to see how many words define me at the moment.

If this blog doesn’t make sense I apologize right now but if I do not make a move to post something I feel I will be lost forever.

I haven’t been feeling great the last few weeks and the mood has taken on this. ‘Oh, I am excited. I am going to…to…to… yes, knit something new. Out I go, buy the wool etc. and start.

A new mixed magazine arrives from my subscription. ‘Oh, I am excited. I am going to do one thing from each page … yaaaaa!

Drop the knitting – start the mixed media

OH OH! Must remember to keep up with the face a day, maybe I will leave the mixed media till I finish the face a day – only 232 days to go but I better get onto the knitting because winter will be over by then.

I AM FEELING TIRED WITH ALL THIS THINKING, NEED A REST FROM EVERYTHING!

Whilst I am resting I will worry about the world’s past, present and future problems and wonder what I can do to fix it all.

Ok, this is no good at all must get on to posting on my blog but in this mood I don’t feel like I have anything intelligent to say, nothing profound, nothing exciting to tell my friends. Their blogs are full of inspiration and creativity and cleverness and funny and and and … Resting is no good, better get up and do something … I know, there is this site on the web about ‘abandoning your art for happiness to others’. I would love to do that. I will join and put all my little pieces out there. OH DEAR! What could I do, what could I draw, write or make? OH DAMN! THINK I WILL GET ON WITH THE KNITTING AND FORGET EVERYTHING FOR AWHILE, I HAVE A HEADACHE!

Round and round like a merry-go-round

merry go round

3 hours after writing the above … finally. I sorted the 365 Face a day challenge and made a separate page (I think it worked). At least that is a start.

Thank you to everyone who has left likes and I hope I have kept up with answering the comments. Am I back in the grooooove? We shall see.

MOTHERS AND BABIES AND FACES

New computer, loss of photos … AGAIN … settling back in and catching up with friends left me no time for my blog. Tonight I have decided to get something up and running.

Lost my photos again but I have a feeling it was the old computer. I put the camera card into the old computer and began loading the photos into whatever program I chose. It was not long before an error came up and nothing loaded. I put the camera card back into the camera and it says it needs formatting. I tried my recovery program on the  this new computer and I have retrieved some, enough I guess, to feel it is better than nothing although I have lost all the videos. Unless of course it is the camera? Anyways, not to worry …

I stayed in Leidschendam where my Daughter is;  which  is a town and former municipality in the province of South Holland of the Netherlands. Along with Voorburg and Stompwijk, it is part of the municipality Leidschendam-Voorburg. Very near Den Haag (The Haig) Late spring brings nature to life so let me start with ‘Mother’s and their babies’. I couldn’t believe how many photos I took of ducks!

FACES: I managed to continue on with my faces. This journey of faces is turning into something amazing. For a start each one has its own story (for writing as some stage).  Being away and being with my lovely grand girls who were very interested in the process and are budding artists themselves of course wanted to help Nana with the drawing. At first I thought ‘no’ then I realised that this is a special time and it is liking itself to a ‘diary’ so we all enjoyed input, either with some drawing or naming. Each face whether it is good or a complete disaster has a memory and a story of where I was, how I was feeling etc.  Here are a few and trust me many of these are complete disasters but they can be ‘notes to self’ of what I can do better and also a jumping off point if I wish to take a particular face and story further.

I am back…sort of…

Hi Everyone,

I have just spent the last couple of nights trying to catch up with everyone’s blogs. My computer is on the blink, have to get a newbie so I dare not do the comments on your posts as I would have liked so may I be so bold to do it here. You are all wonderful, creative and amazingly prolific as usual. There is something delicious in reading the backlog of your blogs, the continuing stories or the short pieces of life itself all roles into your personalities even though we haven’t met.

The time spent with my Daughter and grandies was just wonderful. My eight and ten year old girls taught me ‘new’ ways of life. Like it is not ‘yogurt’ Nana, it is ‘yogut’. Nana why is your skin so soft (isn’t that lovely) but was followed by and ‘floppy’! I was taught new dance moves and corrected on more new ways of speaking..(umbrella  not brolly). We enjoyed each others company dancing and singing, watching movies, playing soccer and badminton. I enjoyed their violin concerts, the books they read, their laughter and yes, even their naughtiness from time to time. I enjoyed most cuddling up with them in bed each night albeit a bit squashed.

My little grandson 14 months old taught me a new language…ADABA-DABA-DABA means many things-I am happy, I would like a cookie and then a bath. Washit = what is that or I am happy or I would like a cookie etc.  We walk for hours, well I walked he sat in his pram and gave me directions, we cuddled and tickled and threw food (well, he did, I abstained although it did look fun, he laughed a lot when he was doing it).

My daughter and I shared many moments of ‘women’ talk, ‘Mum talk’ and just silly girl talk which was beautiful.

o.k. probably bored you all by now so I will sign off. Hopefully I will get a computer up and running before long and be back on track.

Happiness to all of you and ADABA-DABA-DABA – meaning love you all for your wonderful blogging ways.
