James Turrell

Last week I visited the National Gallery in Canberra to see James Turrell’s  Within Without ‘skyspace’. http://nga.gov.au/turrell/

Walking into the space I immediately felt a quiet calmness of meditation. To see the sky in a concentrated way was amazing. The space is circular so you can move around and each section gives you an entirely different aspect of the sky and clouds. One minute I was looking through the space to the sky, next I felt I was looking at the earth from space. Whilst it was not convenient for me to view at night I was lucky with some cloud. I can only imagine how it would look on a starry night. Thank you James for your creativity.
